New figures show 190,000 tweets have been sent since the polls closed in the general election.

There was a spike of 150 sent per minute in relation to Michael Lowry.

Another highlight was seen after an Irish Times/Ipsos-MBRI poll came out just as polls closed on Friday night.

140 tweets a minute were seen as islanders went to the polls on Inishboffin, as helicopters took ballot papers back to the mainland.

The numbers cover 10.01pm on Friday, when polls closed, to 4.00pm today.
