The Leader of Fianna Fail says he is very worried at the deterioration of the health service in light of new waiting list figures.

Statistics published today revealed that 511 people were on hospital trolleys yesterday.

Micheál Martin said today it's quite clear the Government's plan to reform the health service is simply not working.

Speaking in Ballyroan Rathfarnham, he said the outcome for the remainder of this year is a major cause of concern: "The statement by the Director General of the HSE, which was doctored by some extent by the government, to the effect that 2016 will be the worst year in the last decade in our health services because our hospitals have been left short by a minimum of €100 million, and I'm very worried about what's going to happen later on in this year in the A&E departments, in relation to waiting lists, and health in general."
