The Immigrant Council of Ireland is criticising the Government for increasing the immigration registration fee by 100 per cent, without any warning or consultation.

From tomorrow, the fee required for non EU people who are legally resident in the State to register with the authorities will increase from 150 euro per person to 300 euro per person.

The increase will effect tens of thousands of immigrants who currently live in Ireland - including international students.
