A man from Tuscon, Arizon received two unwelcome surprises in short succession last weekend.

After a football game, Phillip Lechter was travelling to a party with his family, and decided to shorten the ride by taking a cycle rickshaw. According to a blog post by Lechter, the rickshaw tipped sharply to one side when it hit a tram track, knocking him against the side.

When checking that his family was safe, he felt a burning sensation on his leg and noticed smoke. Quickly he realised that the source of the fire was his front pocket, which contained his brand new iPhone 6. Picking up the phone, bent almost 90 degrees, by its leather case, he threw in on the ground, where it continued to sizzle.

While extricating the phone, Lechter received first and second-degree burns on his right leg. The video below was taken by an onlooker just after the incident.
