A woman who tricked her friend into having sex by pretending to be a man has been jailed for six-and-a-half years in the UK.

Gayle Newland, Willaston in Cheshire, created an online persona to carry on the facade for over two years.

Using an American man’s profile pictures, she pretended to be a man named Kye Fortune.

Last Month a jury at Manchester Crown Court found her guilty of sexual assault for using a prosthetic penis – while her victim was blindfolded.

The 27-year-old insisted her victim wear a blindfold at all times when they met.

The pair reportedly spent “hundreds of hours” on the telephone with Newland posing as Kye and telling her victim he was undergoing cancer treatment and paranoid about his appearance.

Newland was originally jailed for eight years in 2015 - but the conviction was quashed because the trial judge's summing up of the case wasn't fair and balanced.

This afternoon she cried and fell to the floor as her new six-and-a-half year sentence was handed down.
