Two weather warnings are in place for most of the country, as winds are set to batter us today and tomorrow.

Met Éireann has issued an Orange wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

It says an extremely windy period will stretch from Saturday afternoon through to early Sunday morning.

Southwest veering west winds are forecast, and will reach average speeds of 65 to 80km/h - with gusts of up to 110 km/h.

However severe gusts of up to 130km/h are likely on exposed coasts and headlands for a time in the evening and early night.

Meanwhile there is a Yellow wind warning in place for Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Westmeath, Meath, Roscommon, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford.

Here, Met Éireann is warning of very windy conditionx from Saturday afternoon through to late Saturday night.

It says southwest veering west winds will reach speeds of between 50 to 60 km/h.

However gusts of over 90km/h are possible, reaching as high as 110km/h in exposed areas.
