Heavy rain at times during the day in parts of Leinster and also in parts of east Munster at first.
Some falls of snow this morning with snow lying in places, most especially high ground.
Brighter elsewhere with scattered showers, some of snow this morning, best of the sunny breaks in parts of the northwest.
Highest afternoon temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees Celsius in a fresh and gusty northeast winds, strong in some coastal areas.
Blustery with further heavy rain at times tonight especially in parts of the midlands, south and east but tending to clear southwards later in the night.
Drier in western and northwestern areas with some clear periods and sharp frost where skies clear with overnight lows of 0 to 4 degrees Celsius.
A status yellow snow-ice warning remains in place for Ireland.
Cold overnight, with sub-zero temperatures and scattered wintry showers.
But a band of rain and sleet developing over Leinster and will fall as snow in places.
Some snow will extend into parts of north and east Munster also. 2 or 3 cm of snow are likely, with larger amounts on high ground.
But in eastern and southeastern coastal districts, with onshore breezes, the precipitation is likely to stay as rain or sleet.
