Two businesses were served with closure orders in April, according to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI).

Two other food businesses were served with enforcement orders last month, while the HSE carried out a successful prosecution in relation to a take away restaurant in Co Roscommon.

The closure orders - under the FSAI Act, 1998 - were served on:

  • New Century Thai and Chinese Take Away, 6 Prospect Road, Harts Corner, Dublin 9

A prohibition order under EC regulations was served on the PTM-Schabik butcher shop at Unit 14, Park Road Business Park, Park Road, Waterford.

An FSAI improvement order, meanwhile, was served on the retailer Yemco Enterprise at Whitestown Road, Rush, Co Dublin.

Dr Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive of the FSAI, said: "Although it is encouraging that there have only been two Closure Orders for the month of April, we are urging all food businesses to ensure that they have a robust food safety management system in place and that it is consulted on a regular basis.”
