Two men are due in court this morning after a shot was fired at Gardaí in County Kildare earlier this week.
The incident occurred during a car chase outside Monasterevin on Monday night.
Gardaí said a number of units had observed a black Audi estate car driving at speed through the town and on towards the Kildare road.
Officers began to pursue the car after spotting it again at a location known locally as Ashgrove.
The car stopped at an area known locally as Larch Hill and a male passenger got out of the front seat passenger side.
Gardaí said the man produced what they believe was a shotgun and discharged one shot.
No one was injured during the incident - however armed gardaí were informed and responded.
At around 10.30pm that evening, gardaí from the Regional Support Unit stopped a sliver Hyundai car at Pollardstown in Newbridge and arrested three men aged 23, 27 and 32.
This morning, two of the men were charged and have been brought before Portlaoise District Court.
The third man was arrested without charge.
Gardaí said their investigations are ongoing.
