Two men have been arrested following a series of vehicle hijackings in Co. Kildare early this morning.

Just after 5am, two men flagged down and hijacked a silver Volkswagen Polo on the Naas ringroad.

The Volkswagen was crashed moments later near the entrance to a premises owned by the Kerry Group.

A second vehicle, a blue and white Toyota Auris, was then hijacked.

Gardaí say two men were arrested nearby "almost immediately" and are being detained at Naas Garda Station.
