Two men are being questioned on suspicion of conspiracy to murder after a loaded gun was seized in Dublin last night.
The discovery was made when officers stopped a van in the south inner-city.
A Garda Emergency Response Unit intercepted the vehicle on the Kylemore Road at approximately 8.00pm on Monday.
It was as a result of an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.
The officers seized a loaded firearm and arrested two men at the scene on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
The men, aged 34 and 38, were taken to Crumlin garda station where they were held under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The investigation is on-going.
