Gardaí have arrested two people in connection with a gun attack on a 77-year-old woman in Monkstown in Dublin.
Gardaí investigating the incident arrested the two men, aged 29 and 31-years-old, this morning.
The woman was shot in the leg by a lone gunman who knocked on her door at Oliver Plunkett Avenue in Monkstown on Thursday night.
The men are being held at Dún Laoghaire Garda Station.
The arrests were made following planned searches in North and South Dublin carried out by uniformed and Detective Gardaí
The shooter - who was standing directly outside the front door and fired as soon as it was opened - is described as being of average height.
He may have had a beard and wore a hat/hood on his head.
He is believed to have worn dark clothing. It is not known what direction the man fled the scene.
The woman received medical assistance at the scene before being taken to Saint Vincent’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The scene was preserved and a full technical examination was carried out. An Incident Room has been established at Dun Laoghaire Garda Station and Gardaí have carried out house to house enquiries as part of the investigation.
