The trial of two Burmese men charged in connection with the murder of two British backpackers in Thailand has been adjourned until July.

Hannah Witheridge and David Miller were found dead on the island of Koh Tao in September.

Win Zaw Htun and Zaw Lin, both 21, have denied killing the tourists.

The trial was due to begin in February - but had been unexpectedly brought forward.

The case is now expected to resume with evidence from prosecution witnesses on July 8th. The men on trial could face execution if found guilty.

Mr Miller, from Jersey, died from drowning and a blow to the head, while Miss Witheridge, from Great Yarmouth, died from head wounds. Their bodies were discovered on a beach on the island on September 15th.

The two Burmese bar workers accused of the murders claimed in October they were tortured by the Thai police to secure a confession.

Amnesty International has called for an investigation into the allegations.
