The number of newly-licensed private cars for February enjoyed a 37.6% increase, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO)
Of drivers sitting behind the wheel of a brand new motor, a large amount of them were opting for a Toyota, as the Japanese make proves the most popular for the month.
Hyundai, Ford, Volkswagen and Nissan were just behind, with those manufacturers responsible for over half of all new private cars.
In total, 21,173 cars were licensed in February. Taking January into account, there was a 36% increase compared to the same period in early 2015.
There are also 3,815 new goods vehicles on our roads, an increase of 49% over last year’s figure.
