Hailo is offering its Irish customers half-price rides in the coming week, as shoppers scramble to finish their Christmas shopping.
Tomorrow night is going to be the hardest night of the year to get a taxi, "The busiest day of the year for taxis will be Saturday 17th December - the Saturday before Christmas - followed closely by Saturday 10th, Friday 16th and New Year's Eve," Hailo told Newstalk.
The company has a €500,000 Christmas bonus fund available to drivers to get them out around the country over the coming days.
It is offering customers discounts between Sunday December 18th and Thursday December 22nd between 10:00am and 4:00pm.
To receive the discount on their Hailo fare, passengers must add a promocode for that day before they hail and choose to pay by card. The maximum discount on every journey is €10.

Hailo General Manager, Tim Arnold said, "Whether you’re heading out for an ice-skating trip, catching up with family and friends for the seasonal festivities or just shopping til you drop, we’d encourage customers across the country to leave the car at home and use Hailo at off-peak times to get value on their trips.

In 2015, Saturdays in December were 104% busier than the average Saturday from January to November for the taxi app.
