The makers of Toblerone have carried out some cost-cutting renovations on the distinctive bar and the internet hasn't responded too kindly to the changes.
Blaming the rising cost of ingredients, Mondelēz International (formerly Kraft Foods) has opted to add significant gaps between each triangular chunk of chocolate to reduce the overall size. However, it dramatically changes the look of the product, which has become something of a selling-point over the years.
It's gone from this familiar bruiser...
...to this gap-toothed, decidedly malnourished-looking chap:
The 400 gram bar will now weigh 360 grams, while the 170 gram version has been reduced to 150 grams.
Toblerone gave its reasons on Facebook:
"We carry these costs for as long as possible, but to ensure Toblerone remains… affordable and retains the triangular shape, we have had to reduce the weight of just two of our bars in the UK, from the wider range of available Toblerone products."
That wasn't good enough for many people, with just one choice comment from Michael Tat being:
"This must be up there with the dumbest corporate decisions of all time. You have a somewhat premium chocolate bar which is very well known for its distinctive shape, and to save money you change the shape? Now you have a premium-priced product that looks like a weird knock-off of itself."
I heard about the #Toblerone thing on the radio and assumed it was a lot of fuss over nowt but now I've seen the photos and I am INCENSED

😳😳What have they done with #Toblerone?! 😠From a life in hotels, the stand-out comfort for staying in a decent place has been compromised.

Toblerone. Your cost cutting is about as subtle as me. pic.twitter.com/m5b93Pd5sF

There was also room to mix the two big news topics of the day...
