The Grand jury verdict in the Michael Brown case is due overnight. The jury will decide on whether police officer Darren Wilson should face any charges for killing unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in August, sparking nights of rioting.
There are fears that if the officer is found not guilty there will be widespread public disturbances, perhaps mirroring those seen in the summer.
Medical card eligibility announcement
The government will today announce changes to medical card eligibility.
The new measures will set out the circumstances under which discretionary medical cards will be granted.
White Ribbon Day
The acting Garda Commissioner, representatives from trade unions, sports organisations and other ambassadors are involved in "White Ribbon Day" today.
The White Ribbon Campaign aims to end violence against women by men.
At the centre of the campaign is Tom Meagher, whose wife Jill from county Louth was raped and killed while walking home from a pub in Melbourne, Australia, in September 2012.
