BAI to publish findings on how young people consume media

New research is being published on Thursday on the media consumption habits of young people, in the digital age.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and Digital Youth Council conducted the study.

Young people around the country were interviewed about their daily media consumption habits, with a focus on the impacts of social media and digital platforms.

Potential Aer Lingus sale

The potential sale of the government stake in Aer Lingus will be discussed by TDs and Senators today.

Interest groups, including Chambers of Commerce from Dublin, Cork, Shannon and Limerick and representatives of the IDA are to appear before the Oireachtas Transport Committee.

The Irish Airline Pilots Association and the Aer Lingus group of unions will also be present.

The implications of the sale and the impact on the taxpayer, jobs and tourism will all be discussed.

SIPTU to meet with Bose on Monaghan plant closure

SIPTU representatives will meet with senior management from Bose in county Monaghan to discuss the threatened closure of the plant - with the loss of around 140 jobs.

Last week, the multinational - which manufactures audio systems - announced the move as part of a worldwide cost-cutting programme.

The plant's operations will transfer to Bose facilities in Malaysia and Mexico.

Senior managers from the United States are due to visit the Monaghan based factory on Thursday.
