A host of Kerry businesses and organisations are collaborating on a new nationwide billboard campaign aimed at encouraging visitors and migrants to settle in the county to live and work.

There is a dearth of highly-skilled workers in Kerry according to campaign organiser and Tralee-based businesswoman Liz Maher.

She said:

"We calculate that there are over 1,000 skilled jobs, half of those connected to tourism, which need to be filled but since the downturn so many of our young graduates who left Kerry have still not come home. The county is booming again but the number of ‘wanted’ adverts keeps growing.”

The campaign references some of Kerry’s major employers who are either currently recruiting or will be in the near future. Some of these positioned will then be showcased at the Kerry Expo in the INEC Killarney on April 9th. Last year's expo showcases 120 businesses through the county.

Quality of life, the low cost of living and a wealth of career opportunities are reasons being put forward to present Kerry as an attractive place to set up base.

The campaign is a direct result of a group of major Kerry businesses who have agreed to collaborate on projects that can have a positive impact within the region. The group will also focus on initiatives that encourage engagement between business, industry and the Kerry community at large. It is supported by GHQ Design and Redchair Recruitment and consists of industry and business leaders such as Liebherr, JRI America, FeXco, Tricel, Borg Warner, TLI, Gleneagle Group, Dairymaster, the GAA and Kerry District League.
