Some of you may have seen the new McDonalds World Cup advert which features a very talented young Irish lad (if not, then everyone at Newstalk towers recommends that you check it out below!)

The video sees the exuberantly talented freestyle sensation Ciaran Duffy pulling off a plethora of amazing trick shots in Rio de Janeiro in March.

But the excitement does not stop there for Ciaran. The 10-year-old Shamrock Rovers U11 player will be heading out to Brazil again in a few weeks to act as a McDonald's player escort.

Ciaran will be walking out with Spain and Chile's megastars at the start of their World Cup group game at Rio's iconic Maracana Stadium.

A well deserved experienced for Ciaran, I caught up with his Dad, Michael, to find out how McDonald's discovered the young Lionel Messi fan.

"I've a YouTube channel for Ciaran. I put it up a couple of years ago and it's got over 6 million views. He does a lot of street performing and there's not many kids that can juggle off both feet at his age," said Michael.

From there, a production company in Hollywood got wind of his skills and after whittling the candidates down from a total of 300, Ciaran then did a Skype interview and sent on a video of his showreel of tricks which wowed the judges.

With little convincing needed, Ciaran and Michael were flown to "lovely" Rio de Janeiro in mid-March to film his portion of the McDonalds advert.

"They rented out an office block for Ciaran and he got all the tricks done in 2 hours. He took it all with a pinch of salt, pulling off eight or nine trick shots. The crew erupted with applause," said Michael, who added that Ciaran loves Spanish and Brazilian football, and used to watch Brazil star Neymar pulling off his array of tricks on YouTube even before most of Ireland knew who the Barcelona star was.

So, while the Boys in Green are staying home this summer, at least one of Ireland's brightest young talents will get to walk out at the fabled Maracana.
