A British teenager who shaved his head to raise money for charity has been put into isolation for breaking school rules.

14-year-old Stan Lock, a pupil at Churchill Academy, North Somerset, said he wanted to raise funds for cancer charity Macmillan.

He got the "number one" haircut on Sunday, but head teacher Dr Barry Wratten didn't approve, and the teen was put in isolation.

Dr Wratten said this would now "be reviewed".

His mother Melanie Rees said she was "incredibly proud" at what her son had done.

"I'd hoped the school would have shown some element of judgement and would have made an exception," she said.

"Stan's been overwhelmed with messages of support from his friends."

"I'd hoped the school would have shown some element of judgement and would have made an exception," she said.

According to BBC, a petition to have him returned to class has attracted more than 600 signatures and the Free Stan Lock Facebook page has been "liked" 529 times.
