A teenage boy who was knocked off his bike by a car at the weekend has died in hospital.

The collision happened on Sunday evening on the N51 Slane Road in Drogheda.

The 13-year-old boy was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries last night.

The driver of the car was not injured in the crash.

Gardaí are appealing for anybody who was on the road between 7.30 and 8.30pm on Saturday evening and any witnesses to the collision to contact them.
