Coming out at any stage of life is a daunting experience. But one young teenager who recorded himself live as he came out to his mother was a little taken aback by what she told him afterwards.

YouTube user Hayden Smith uploaded a video that shows him as he emotionally reveals to his mother that he is gay, and then shows his mother open up about the fact that she had a girlfriend in the past.

She then goes on to say that it was before she was married to the boy's father, who has since passed away.

While the revelation came was met by stunned silence from her son, his mother went on to tell her son how much she loves him and will support whomever he loves.
