Fresh from marking the 10th anniversary of her eponymous debut album hitting shelves (remember those?) last month, Taylor Swift has taken yet another top spot in what is a glittering but still quite nascent career.

The 26-year-old 'Shake It Off' star came in at number one on Forbes' 'World's Highest-Paid Women in Music' list, and was also the youngest musician in the top 10.

According to Forbes, Swift raked in $170 million (€153m) in the past year, which has chiefly been spent touring her monster 1989 album around the world. Pollstar stats have her averaging a gross of $4.3m for every city she has visited. Massive sponsorship deals with the likes of Apple and Diet Coke have also helped her bank balance.

Making it an even sweeter success for Swift, she replaces Katy Perry at the summit – the pop pair, once friendly, are rumoured to have had a major falling out, as alluded to by former Taylor beau Calvin Harris here...

...and Perry herself elsewhere in the Twittersphere.

Adele came in second with less than half Taylor's take, earning $80.5m. While her arena shows have been bringing in big money, Adele is an anomaly in that most of her earnings still come from album sales. Madonna, Beyonce and Rihanna rounded off the top five.

Life off the road meant Perry had to settle for sixth position. Below her, Las Vegas residencies reaped big rewards for Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Shania Twain and Celine Dion.

Swift's dominance isn't divided along gender lines, however – in July, she topped the Forbes 100 list as the world's highest-paid celebrity for 2015. Even an entire boy band couldn't beat her, with One Direction finishing second with a combined took in $110m.
