Sunday's weather: Status Orange warning remains in effect; heavy falls of rain, sleet and snow; highest temperatures 0C to 4C

A Status Orange snow-ice warning remains in effect for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Tipperary.

Today

There will be further heavy falls of rain, sleet and snow in places today.

Clearer weather over Ulster with frost will gradually extend southwards during the afternoon. 

Strong to gale force westerly winds this morning over Munster with temperatures of 5C to 7C degrees.

It will be generally very cold with highs of only 0C to 4C degrees in a fresh east to northeast wind.

Tonight

There will be clear skies tonight with widespread severe frost resulting in dangerous icy conditions on untreated surfaces. 

Minimum air temperatures -2C to -8C degrees.
