Earlier this month, North Korea performed their fifth and most powerful nuclear detonation to date, with the UN Security Council condemning the "brazen defiance" of Pyongyang.
In response earlier this week, South Korea's defense minister revealed that should his country feel threatened by North Korea's nuclear weapons, they have a group of elite troops on standy ready to assassinate the country's leader, Kim Jong Un.
"South Korea has a general idea and plan to use precision missile capabilities to target the enemy's facilities in major areas as well as eliminating the enemy's leadership," said Han Min-koo.
During a parliament meeting on Wednesday, Min-koo was asked if the South Korean government had assembled a special forces unit in place to potentially eliminate the North Korean leader, to which he candidly replied: "Yes, we do have such a plan. "
In the aftermath of North Korea's fifth nuclear test and in anticipation of an impending sixth test, South Korea's Chief Director of Strategic Planning at the Joint Chiefs of Staff described a new system called the Korea Massive Punishment & Retaliation (KMPR).
The KMPR would solely involve surgical missile attacks, exclusive special warfare units and an ability to strike North Korea's leadership.
