Concerns are being raised over the legal implications Brexit will have for cross-border workers.

The EU has set up a working group to assess how the process will work for people who live in the Republic but work in Northern Ireland and vice versa, and it has already found that hundreds of existing regulations will need to be assessed.

Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan is sitting on the working group and has voiced her fears that the removal of key EU laws could negatively impact thousands.

She said:

"These are pieces of legislation such as the working time directive, maternity leave, your access to social protection in the various member states, so there are huge implications for workers...

"They have already identified 658 pieces of legislation that will have to be unpicked as a result of Brexit."
