Shazam has been around for some time now. I remember the first time I saw it being used in action and wasn't sure how I felt about it. I was out for lunch with Tom Dunne and he couldn't remember who sang a particular song. He whipped out his phone and Shazam told him within seconds. Incredibly handy.

I have used and watched it being used hundreds of times since. It's a great way to find new music or rediscover songs from long ago. The team at Shazam have added a new feature to their Android offering, which will compile an entire playlist of songs played.

For example, if you're in a pub or club and the music is great all night, users will be able to run the Auto Shazam feature. The app will work for as long as it's active and compile a list of every song that is played.

The app runs in the background too, meaning users will no longer have to stare at the screen, waiting for the results.

The new-look Shazam is free and available from the Android store now.
