A serial sex offender has been jailed for two years for molesting two young girls on a Luas tram in Dublin.
John Daly (53) - a convicted child abuser from Cabra Park, Phibsboro in Dublin attacked the two friends as they made their way to a Rihanna concert in October 2011.
He was arrested three months after molesting the two young girls, when he tried to board a Luas at 'The O2' following a 'One Direction' concert.
He was considered a suspect after he was identified on CCTV footage.
During questioning, he admitted molesting his victims and said he deliberately got on the tram to touch young girls and get aroused.
In February 2000, Daly was jailed for two years for the attempted rape and indecent assault of two young girls in the 1980s, and for a violent sex attack on a woman (62) on dates from 1997 to 1998.
That sentence was increased to six years by the Court of Criminal Appeal and today, he was handed down a two year jail term for the attack on the two Rihanna fans.
In sentencing, Judge Mary-Ellen Ring noted there was an element of planning and forethought in the offence and that Mr. Daly would have known there would be young females on the Luas at the time.
