Ryanair pilots in Italy have voted to accept a new collective labour agreement.

The deal was negotiated between the airline and the Italian Airline Pilots Association (ANPAC) earlier this month.

The airline has welcomed the results of the vote, saying Italy is one of its largest EU markets.

Ryanair’s Eddie Wilson said: “We welcome this first CLA with our Italian pilots and hope that it will be shortly followed by a similar agreement covering our Irish pilots.

"We have invited our UK, German and Spanish unions to meet with us in the coming days so that we can negotiate and hopefully agree similar pilot CLAs in these other larger markets.”

Last week, the union representing Irish-based pilots reached a tentative deal with the airline to end a dispute that led to five days of strikes.

The deal is subject to a ballot of the pilots, with the Fórsa union calling on its members to accept it.

Ryanair pilots has faced industrial action by union members in a number of countries in recent weeks.

Pilots in Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and Belgium took part in strikes earlier this month.

Cabin crew in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Belgium also held strikes last month.

Ryanair agreed to formally recognise unions last year, ahead of threatened strikes during the Christmas period.
