Diabetics are being warned about a fault with an insulin delivery system.
Novo Nordisk is recalling a batch of NovoPens: NovoPen Echo and NovoPen 5.
The Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) says it has been informed of the recall.
The action was initiated by the manufacturer after it found that the insulin cartridge holder used in specific batches of NovoPen Echo and NovoPen 5 insulin pens may crack or break if exposed to certain chemicals - such as cleaning agents containing chlorine, iodine or alcohol.
HPRA advises that users follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer, and do not stop treatment without consulting your healthcare professional.
Users are being asked to report any concerns regarding these devices to the manufacturer and the HPRA.
Patients are being urged to contact their pharmacy to get a replacement.
