Pinterest has announced the arrival of "promoted pins" to Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Brands such as Aer Lingus, Avoca and Tesco are just some of the companies set to avail of the feature in this country.
For those unfamiliar with Pinterest, it's the social media platform that allows users to create boards filled with items of interest and inspiration. Popular among those planning wedding, parties and home renovations, it was started back in 2009. Since then it has grown to acquire 150 million monthly active users around the world.
The company says more than 200,000 ideas are pinned in Ireland each day.
The company use promoted pins as a source of revenue. The ads are designed to mix in with general content so as not to disturb the user experience.
