The S7 and S7 Edge were unveiled at Mobile World Congress in February
Technology fans are eagerly awaiting the official launch of the Samsung S7 and S7 Edge. Both devices will be available in store from March 11th, which is this Friday. The spec of the S7 was unveiled at Mobile World Congress a few weeks ago, but now it’s time to answer the killer question: should you get one?
Samsung are known for producing beautiful devices. Their earlier Galaxy models were plastic and clunky, but those days are gone. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are stunning, slim devices with a glass and metal body. The S7 has a 5.1-inch display while the S7 Edge has a 5.5-inch screen, and curved at the sides.
The good news for Galaxy fans is that the S7 sees the return of the microSD slot, which disappeared along with the emergence of the S6. The new phones will also be water and weather-proof.
The rear camera on the S7 boasts 12MP with a larger image sensor and an aperture in the lens of f/1.7. This means that it works incredibly well in low-light and the fast focus ensures the user captures their shot every time. The front camera is 5MP.
Internally there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad core processor and an incredible 4GB of RAM. The device will come with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Both devices also have impressive battery packs built in; 3,000 mAh on board the S7 and 3,600mAh in the S7 Edge.
Admirers of the Edge will now have more functionality from their side screen, with room for 10 shortcuts to apps.
We’ll be live-tweeting the launch which takes place tonight in Dublin.
