Police have released new CCTV images of the Manchester bomber on the night of his deadly attack.

Salman Abedi is seen wearing jeans, trainers, a dark jacket, baseball cap and glasses in the final moments before he went on to kill 22 concert-goers on Monday.

A rucksack can be seen on his back, which detectives believe could have held the explosives.

The images are the first to show how the 22-year-old looked when he detonated the bomb he was carrying.

Greater Manchester Police, which has released the images, has not revealed where the images were taken or at what stage of the evening.

Counter terrorism

Abedi is thought to have assembled the bomb in a city centre flat before arriving at the concert.

Detectives say they have built up a "detailed picture" of his movements since he came back to Britain on the 18th of May, reportedly from his family's native Libya.

Police also made a further appeal to the public for information to help trace Abedi's activity between his arrival in the UK and the attack.

In a statement, the force said: "We immediately established full command and control of the incident and within an hour of the attack taking place a specialist counter terrorism control room had been established with a first priority of identifying the attacker.

"Specialist counter terrorist forensic teams were sent to try and identify the attacker and within two hours his identity was known."

Raids are still taking place across the city as security services piece together Abedi's final movements before the attack and 11 men remain in custody in connection with the attack.
