A Dublin PR firm says it is "inconceivable" that a USB stick containing a dossier on Denis O'Brien would just land on his desk at his Dublin HQ.

The businessman is looking for Red Flag Consulting Limited to reveal the identity of a client who commissioned the files to be compiled.

When Mr O'Brien's lawyers first went to the High Court looking for an order to enter Red Flag's offices to search and seize their computers, the PR company said he led them to believe he had hired some sort of Jason Bourne figure to track down the source of what he believes is a long running campaign against him.

The court heard that in reality, the investigation was carried out by a "one-man accountant" based in Ukraine.

Mr O'Brien claims it was during his inquiries that an unmarked envelope arrived on the desk of his Dublin office.

Inside was an encrypted USB stick that contained hundreds of newspaper cuttings, as well as documents which he claims are defamatory.

Red Flag admits putting the dossier together but insists it was for a client - the identity of whom Mr O'Brien is trying to have revealed.

Michael Collins, senior counsel for the PR firm, believes they are not being told something about the USB stick - and says the court can refuse the application if it finds there was a "lack of candour" on his part.
