Running from the 18th to the 28th of February, the Dublin Film Festival is returning this year with a brand new sponsor; Audi.

While the full line-up has yet to be revealed, the opening and closing films for the festival have been announced.

On February 18th, Sing Street will open the ADIFF.

Directed by John Carney (Once, Begin Again) writes and directs this story of a boy growing up in Dublin during the 1980s escapes his strained family life by starting a band and moving to London. Starring Aiden Gillen, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Jack Reynor, the film will be released on general release in Irish cinemas from March 18th.

On February 28th, the closing film Viva will be shown and will close out this year's festival.

Directed by Paddy Breathnach (I Went Down, Man About Dog) and written by Mark O'Halloran (Adam & Paul, Garage), it tells the story of a drag performer in Havana who is violently reintroduced to his father after fifteen years apart.

The film has been shortlisted for this year's Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, screened at the Telluride Film Festival, is scheduled to be screened at Sundance at the end of this month, and general release in the States from early February, with no set date for Irish release just yet.

The full line-up will be announced at the end of January, with tickets available to all screenings going on sale at that time.
