An online poll of 1,789 Britons who identify as vegetarian found 37% of all respondents eat meat while drunk.

67% stood steadfast in their position, staying clear from meat no matter what their state of inebriation.

However:

• 34% said every time they get drunk on a night out
• 26% replied fairly often
• 22% said “Rarely”
• 18% said “Occasionally”

The most popular meat for wayward vegetarians was kebab meat, followed by burgers, rashers, fried chicken and sausages.

Guilt is prevalent among those who do indulge in meat, with 69% of them not disclosing their meat-eating to others.
