A woman who police say intentionally swerved her car on to the pavement on the Las Vegas Strip, killing one person and injuring dozens more, will face a murder charge.
People jumped on 24-year-old Lakeisha Holloway's car and banged on the vehicle's windows as she ploughed through pedestrians, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said.
Three people remain in a critical condition after the 1996 Oldsmobile hit crowds outside a casino on Sunday night.
Sheriff Lombardo told reporters on Monday that video of the incident appeared to show the act was "intentional".
He said after striking more than two dozen people, Holloway drove to a nearby a hotel and told a valet to call 911 after explaining what she had done.
She appeared "stoic" when officers took her into custody, Sheriff Lombardo said.
Holloway, who is believed to be from Oregon, had her three-year-old daughter in the car at the time, authorities said. The girl was unharmed.
Sheriff Lombardo said investigators believe Holloway had a falling out with the father of her child before the crash. He did not elaborate.
Police said Holloway "went up and off these streets, two or possible three times".
Holloway, who was not injured, is being held without bail on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon. Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said he is considering additional charges.
He said: "When a person drives a 2,000-pound-plus motor vehicle intentionally on to a sidewalk, killing and injuring scores of people, that's murder."
Authorities have said the individual killed was a woman from Arizona.
The crash happened as the final of the Miss Universe pageant was being held at the Planet Hollywood nearby.
Crystal Orren, who was staying near Planet Hollywood, told Sky News: "It was chilling because when it happened [my husband Mike] was inside the hotel room and I was out on the balcony and I didn't hear anything at all - there was no squeal of brakes and no sound of impact.
"It was just screaming and then the sirens."
Parts of Las Vegas Boulevard were closed after the crash.
