Some 350 jobs have been announced at three separate companies around Ireland.

Technology and telecoms retailer Dixons Carphone is adding 220 jobs across its stores in the run-up to Christmas.

The new part-time jobs will be based across its 125 stores - including Carphone Warehouse and Curry's PC World.

The roles include retail staff, sales and customer support - along with a number of commercial positions at its head office.

Recruitment has begun and the company hope to have all positions filled within the next month.

Under the Dixons Carphone Group, there are 98 Carphone Warehouse stores and 27 Currys PC World stores across the country.

Announcing the new positions Mark Slater, managing-director of Dixons Carphone, said that the company is looking for talented, energetic and tech-savvy people to work across all parts of the business.

"Christmas, both pre-and post, is the busiest time of the year and we're pleased to report that Christmas shopping has already started here in Ireland. Our seasonal staff each year are key to managing this busy period and delivering for our customers," he said.

'Great example of an indigenous Irish company'

Meanwhile, consultancy firm Tata is creating over 80 new, highly-skilled jobs across the country.

The IT services, consulting and business solutions organisation established an office in Dublin in 2001 and now operates with over 100 consultants in Ireland.

Key areas of business focus in Ireland include education, supply chain, enterprise solutions, digital technologies and IT portfolio optimisation.

Venkatesh Priyadarshi, head of Irish operations, says the roles range from project management, development and data science openings to business intelligence and analyst positions.

All positions are currently open for recruitment and TCS says it is keen to hear from applicants.

And PlanNet21 Communications has announced the provision of 50 jobs.

It purchased a new global headquarters in the Citywest Business Campus in Dublin after earlier this year announcing a €20m investment in a data centre in Blancharstown - along with 30 jobs.

This is now the second major phase of the recruitment.

"This is the next phase of the business for PlanNet21 Communications, growing from humble beginnings in Galway, to now serving some of the worlds' largest blue chip companies" said co-founder and CFO Michael Hannon.

An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, cut the ribbon for the official opening of the new offices while they announced the plans and the recruitment of another 50 new employees.

Mr Kenny said: "I am delighted to welcome the announcement of 50 new jobs with the expansion of PlanNet21 and its relocation to its new HQ in Citywest Business Campus".

"This is a great example of how an indigenous Irish company can grow to become a global player, creating high quality jobs for Irish workers", he added.
