A motorcyclist has been killed following a crash in Co Kildare.

It happened at 1.00am Monday morning on the R413 Nicholastown-Kilcullen Road, between Kilcullen village and Mile Mill.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his early 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road has been closed for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out an examination.

Local diversions are in place.
