Two people have died following a single vehicle crash in Galway last night.

A woman in her 30s and her 14-year-old son were fatally injured when the car they were traveling in struck a tree at Ballaghlea, Ballygar at around 9.45pm.

They were the only occupants of the car, and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their bodies have been taken taken to University Hospital Galway where a post mortem examination will be carried out.
