A woman charged with killing her housemate in Limerick has been further remanded in custody.

34-year-old Monika Matracka from The Pines, Briarfield, Castletroy will appear in court again next month.

She was due to appear via videolink at the District Court in the city, but she appeared in person due to the need for an interpreter.

The Polish national is accused of killing her housemate, 38-year-old Michal Rejmer, at the house they shared in Castletroy on an unknown date between the 30th and 31st of December last.

Sergeant Donal Cronin said investigations are ongoing and directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions have not yet been received.

Solicitor Tom Kiely indicated his client was consenting to a four week adjournment.

Judge Mary Larkin remanded the accused in custody until February 9th and ordered a Polish interpreter be present on that date.

No mention of an application for High Court bail was made in court.
