Monday's weather: Severe frost to linger in many parts of the country

Today

Severe frost will linger in many parts of the country today with temperatures only reaching 3 or 4 degrees in cold northerly winds.

Otherwise a cold bright day with mixed wintry showers across Connacht, Ulster and west Munster but mainly dry elsewhere.

Tonight

Mostly dry and clear overnight with a widespread severe frost and temperatures falling to between +1 and -3 degrees.

Winds turning more northwesterly in direction.

Extremely low temperatures with severe frost, ice and lying snow. Slippery paths and treacherous roads also due to snow accumulation and ice. Warning valid until 10am.
