The Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick Jagger is to become a father for the eighth time, as his spokesman has confirmed that his 29-year-old girlfriend, the American ballerina Melanie Hamrick, is expecting.
Jagger, whose seven other children range from the ages of 17 to 45, also became a great-grandfather last year. The Stone has previously fathered children with Marsha Hunt, Bianca Jagger, Jerry Hall, and Luciana Gimenez Morad.
Hamrick and Jagger first started dating in 2014, not long after Jagger’s longterm partner L’Wren Scott, a New York stylist, died by suicide. Hamrick has been described by Jagger’s spokesman as “surprised and happy” by their news.

The British rock star is not the only stone not gathering moss, as his bandmate Ronnie Wood, 68, also became a father again when his wife Sally Humphreys gave birth to twin girls two months ago.
Along with his new baby, Jagger has also revealed that The Rolling Stones are currently recording a new album. The blues-inspired record is scheduled for release before the end of the year. Jagger was also heavily involved with the HBO TV show Vinyl, which starred his son James and was produced by Martin Scorsese. The series was cancelled after its first season.
