A man in his 60's remains in a critical condition in hospital this morning following a two car collision in Co. Carlow yesterday.

The crash claimed the life of another man in his 40's.

A man in his 40's - who was a passenger in the car - was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where a post mortem is due to be carried out later today.

A man in his 60's, who'd been travelling in the jeep, was taken to St. Luke's hospital in Kilkenny, where his condition is described as critical.

Three other people were also hospitalised, a woman in her 60's, who was in the jeep, and two men aged in their 20's and 40's who'd been travelling in the car.

Gardai conducted a full technical examination of the scene and are now appealing for witnesses to contact Carlow Garda station.
