The PSNI said the man suffered "potentially life changing injuries" after being shot in the legs
Detectives in North Belfast are appealing for information following the report of a paramilitary style shooting in the Ardoyne area of the city.
They are investigating the shooting of a 30-year-old male in the area of Velsheda Court, Ardoyne at around 9:15pm last night.
The man was shot twice and taken to hospital where he received treatment for leg injuries.
PSNI Detective Inspector McCambridge called on anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact the PSNI.
“This was a brutal and despicable attack which has left the victim with potentially life changing injuries,” she said.
“This is another example of how criminal gangs seek to control local communities through the use of fear and violence.”
Anyone with any information can contact the PSNI or provide it anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
