A man in his 50s has been killed after a fatal collision in Ballina, Co Mayo on Sunday night. 

The accident which involved a male cyclist in his 50s and a car, occurred on the R314 Rathroeen in Ballina at around 5pm last night. 

The cyclist received serious injuries and was taken to Mayo University Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. 

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have examined the scene and The local coroner has been notified.
