A 30-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital following a collision in Galway.

The pedestrian was struck by a car at Bushy Park on the Moycullen Road at 1.40am this morning.

He has been taken to University Hospital in Galway, with his condition described as critical.

A forensic examination of the scene is taking place.

The road remains closed this morning, with diversions in place.
