Mr Kennedy is accused of assault causing harm to Gerard "Baba" Freyne on Wednesday last.

The 53-year-old was assaulted on Lord Edward Street in the city at 7.45pm on October 12th.

He was taken to University Hospital Limerick and was transferred to Cork University Hospital where he died shortly after 5.30am Friday morning.

Defence solicitor John Herbert told the court no application for bail was made by his client, Mr Kennedy, and asked that the case be adjourned and his client receives the medical attention he requires.

Judge Marian O'Leary granted the application and the case was put back until Tuesday October 25th.
