A man has appeared before Limerick District Court in connection with the fatal assault of Gerard Freyne in Limerick city last week.

At a brief sitting of Limerick District Court earlier, Detective Garda Barry Moylin gave evidence of arresting Mr Kennedy on Lord Edward Street at 2.05pm on Saturday afternoon.
Mr Kennedy is accused of assault causing harm to Gerard "Baba" Freyne on Wednesday last.
The 53-year-old was assaulted on Lord Edward Street in the city at 7.45pm on October 12th.
He was taken to University Hospital Limerick and was transferred to Cork University Hospital where he died shortly after 5.30am Friday morning.
