Two separate inquiries are underway, following a man's death in an incident in a factory in Co Kildare overnight.

The incident occurred at 8.30pm in the Green Isle factory on the Monread Road in Naas.

The 42-year-old man was taken to Naas General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are carrying out two separate investigations.

Green Isle Foods has confirmed "with deep regret that there has been a fatal accident at its manufacturing facility in Naas, Co Kildare. The accident which occurred last night has resulted in the tragic loss of one of our colleagues.

"Management and staff at Green Isle Foods wish to express their deepest sympathies to the family and offer their full support at this very difficult time," the statement adds, with the company saying it is co-operating fully with authorities investigating the incident.
